rosa hartfordthe sky holds the wind Despite having been at Hogwarts for 5 years, Rosa always found herself getting lost in the long, ominously mobile (the moving staircases, for one) corridors. Her shoes made soft clicking sounds against the stone as her hand slid, merrily though she had no idea where she was going, down the staircase bannister. Crisp fall sunlight filtered through the stained glass windows. Rosa squinted into it as she waited for a flight of steps to move, hopping onto them just as soon as they started to rumble and swerve sleepily to the left.
- What a nice day! - It`s nice, but it won`t be if you`re cooped up here all morning. Where`s the exit? - I don`t know... um, left? Or was it right? I don`t know. - You`d better not get lost. - Don`t worry about me! I`ve got a great sense of direction!
"Now then, where`s the library?" Rosa mumbled under her breath, pressing her index finger to her cheek the way she often did when something was perplexing her. She was walking with her eyes at her feet, not looking where she was going, and before she knew it she`d walked straight into a suit of armor, its mangled silver parts making a large crashing noise as they toppled over.
Damn. That probably cost a load of galleons.
- I`m just going to walk away. - Hey! You aren`t going to— - Shh! They`ll execute me. - I think that practice was banned years ago...
Her steps were wobbly as she backed away from the mess she`d made. No need to panic. The halls were gravely empty and it didn`t look like anyone was about to pass by, either. A veritable no man`s land. As long as there weren`t any witnesses, she`d be fine.

RickLost Are We? Rick didn't mind getting lost. He kinda enjoyed the thrill of finding his way back. He would stroll for a few minutes in random directions and then try to get back whenever he was bored. Today was one of those days. He didn't feel like going to potions. Ditching class, that was another detention for him....Molly would murder him. With a sigh he continued to meander aimlessly. He was kinda hoping he'd run into someone. He hadn't spoken to many people and he wanted some company.
Just as he was deep in thought, he heard a loud crash. A crash meant that someone was nearby. He strolled toward the direction of the sound. It only took a few moments to glance at the scene for him to realize what had happened. A very expensive looking suit of armor was rolling about on the ground and a young girl was backing towards him looking about.
Rick grinned and stood behind her silently. After a few more steps she collided with his burly frame. She leaped higher into the air than he'd ever seen someone go. "Boo?" he chuckled as she blushed and turned to face him. "Tsk. Tsk. Quite a mess you've made here sweetheart!" His tone was teasing and gentle.

rosa hartfordyou`re waiting lying on your side Simply being startled was enough to make Rosa a nervous wreck—funny, because she loved surprising other people, in fact most of the time when she greeted someone first she`d end up making them jump. Karma was certainly being a bitch. Today it was her turn, and as she was backing away from the mess of burly metal at her feet she heard none other than Rick Channing`s voice.
"Boo?" he chuckled.
- Omigod. Rick! It`s Rick! - Yes, we`ve established who it is. - He... he hasn`t seen me, has he? Knock over the armor? Agh! - Cross your heart and hope to die.
Rosa hugged her arms to her chest and gazed up at Rick, her face the colour of the bright red tie fastened around his neck. He was so much... bigger, not to mention significantly taller, being as he was a seventh year and Rosa`d always been on the puny side. She bit her tongue to keep from saying anything—when she was around her crushes she found her words, no matter how coherent they sounded in her head, came out jumbled and senseless. Vowels were dropped, consonants added. Rick looked almost ethereal illuminated against the window, his sandy blonde hair in its usual tousled style.
- It`s official. Rick Channing is a god. - Well, he`s not going to stick around for long if you just stand there gaping like an idiot.
"Tsk. Tsk. Quite a mess you've made here sweetheart!" His tone was teasing and gentle.
"Hi, Mick," Rosa gushed, so mystified she failed to notice she`d mispronounced his name. "I was just... hngngh plotszly... I mean, uh, the armor fell. I don`t know what to do... and I... nargholy—I mean—yes."

RickDo I Know You? As she turned around, Rick sort of recognized her. He knew he had seen her face he just couldn't remember who she was. He didn't really notice how long she was taking to respond because he was lost in thought trying to recall what in the name of all things bright and beautiful her name was. His teeth gnawed on the inside of his cheek, but that was the only visable sign that he was at all fazed. That soft grin was still present on his lips and the rest of his face just smiled at her. But behind those placid blue-green eyes, his brain was whirring with activity [this was very rare for Rick's brain...this thinking business...the wheels were kinda rusty, so it was taking longer than it should for him to remember].
He towered over her, so she was probably younger, or just really tiny. 'Okay so she's younger, or a pixie, check!' She was just gazing wide-eyed and open mouthed up at him, that didn't help much. 'Oh wait! She's Lana's friend! The one that giggles at me all the time... Is it Robin? Uh Ramona? Wait...ROSA! That's it!' He was so proud of his thought process that he almost didn't notice she had finally began to speak. 'Mick? Alrighty then...'
He just chuckled as he ruffled his hair. "Sorry Rosa love, I didn't catch that." He made sure to use her name in his sentence, he was too proud of the fact that he had figured it out. He hoped she didn't pass out or anything, judging by the red face and gurgled sentences she might...

rosa hartfordturn me on, dead man "Sorry Rosa love, I didn't catch that."
- Who would? You were blabbering on like an idiot. - Shall I compare thee to a summer`s day? - Are you even listening to me? - He`s... so... bodacious.
Frankly, it was a bit of a surprise that Rick knew who she was, but Rosa tried not to let that occupy her thoughts for very long. Rick ran a casual hand through his hair, prompting her to squeak with sudden adoration. If he didn`t already think she was crazy, now`d be when he`d figure it out.
- I need to say something funny and cool. - Like what? Ngharflo plotzsky? - ...That`s no good. Who says that?
"Sorry... Rick," she said, taking care to form her sentences slowly enough that she`d catch any weird blunders. "I don`t mean to upset you with my mumbling, really I don`t, I mean, if I were you I`d be rightly pissed with... with me. Basically, I`m really screwed `cause I know it`s this really expensive suit, and my cousin already thinks I`m wasting my time here `cause I`m no good at potions or charms or anything like that, so I`m going to end up being expelled for vandalising or whatever it is they do to the students these days, I heard they don`t torture you anymore so that`s good, but nevertheless it`s still kind of daunting imagining what the Headmaster`ll say—"
- `Oy, princess. Shut up. - Oh, no! Why am I just blabbering on?
Rosa stopped to bite her fingers, suddenly humbled. "Sorry," she repeated, her voice surprisingly small. "I just get so... so nervous. Around..." She shook her head. "Stupid metal."

RickNervous around...Me? Suddenly, she went from talking at the speed of light to a very slow pace. She talked for a very long time and Rick tried to focus on every word. By the time she was done, he was having difficulty remembering what she said at the beginning. Probably some form of short term memory loss, or long term if he thought about how long she'd been speaking. The smile never left his face though and he remained somewhat interested through out her whole speech. Rick wasn't one for talking very much so when someone did, he found it kind of tiring. But, her words did make him chuckle. She thought she was going to get kicked out of school?
Had she even heard of all the things he had done? He was practically legendary around the old castle for pranks and ditching class and he had even won an award [made by his friends of course] for "Most Detentions in the History of...Ever" So when he did speak his voice was soothing. "Don't worry about it love. You won't get expelled for knocking into something. Next time though, you should try to aim so that you can knock it into all the others." He grinned and gave her a little wink. "Well, not like I'd know...I'd never ever do anything like that," he joked as he looked over at the one knocked over suit of armor and the rows of standing ones behind it.
She had very cute little nervous habits. 'Nervous around...me?' he asked himself with an extra large grin. 'Well thats to be expected,' spoke his ego. Yes, his ego pretty much had a voice of it's own it was so large. "The headmaster's not that bad. We're pretty good buddies, I visit him a lot."

rosa hartfordwe`ve got a big mess on our hands "Don't worry about it love. You won't get expelled for knocking into something. Next time though, you should try to aim so that you can knock it into all the others." He grinned and gave her a little wink.
Rosa giggled in spite of herself, the flush in her cheeks fading slightly. She knew she liked him for more than his looks... well, today was probably the first time they`d had an actual conversation, and Lana didn`t seem to like him as much as the rest of Rosa`s admirations, but she knew. She just knew! Offering up a toothy grin, she tucked a strand of wavy dark brown hair behind her ear and listened to whatever else Rick had to say. When he spoke he had this adorable way of looking at her, as if at any moment he might burst out laughing—a quirky kind of expression, except on him it just made her heart melt into a tiny pink puddle. She`d never before felt the eerie hollowness of the corridors until today. It was probably just her nerves, though, that and the fact that she`d just bowled over school property.
"The headmaster's not that bad. We're pretty good buddies, I visit him a lot."
Rosa looked stunned. "But you`re so perfect!" she exclaimed, finding herself blushing again as she realized what she`d said. "I mean... I wouldn`t imagine you as the type to do anything wrong. You`re just... untouchable." There ensued then an awkward beat, during which Rosa brightened up, her blue eyes sparkling. "I`d like if you could teach me some tricks sometime," she blurted suddenly. Her tone was so serious, it was almost comical. "Even if you`re breaking the rules, I still think you`re really super!"

RickSomeone's Head Over Heels The giggle that came out of this girls mouth was positively adorable. Rick loved it when girls giggled and this was no exception. The toothy grin that danced across her lips also made him smile, she was pretty cute. Not to mention she was his cousin Lana's friend, a friend of Lana's was a friend of his...except for this "Matt" character that Lana gushed about all the time, he didn't trust him. His train of thought was trailing off again so he refocused on the girl in front of him. Around him she seemed to be blushing and giggling constantly, he wondered what she was like all the time. He found himself laughing at the thought of him and Paxton together standing in front of this girl, he wondered if she'd pass out.
"Perfect?" he inquired raising a single brow and giving her a little smirk. "Baby I'm far from perfect. Most of my biggest pranks are under the radar though." He looked thoughtful as he reminisced about all his old tricks. "If anyone knew it was me, well I'd probably be kicked out of school." He glanced over at the fallen suit of armor. "And, speaking of getting out of trouble, we might wanna get away from this pile of tin. you won't get expelled, but there's still detention." He swept his arm forward down a corridor in an 'after you' gesture. "So," he inquired as they strolled off down the hall together. "Where were you headed before you destroyed valuable property?" He said the last part jokingly and hoped she'd understand the humor.

rosa hartfordcompletely at a loss "So," he inquired as they strolled off down the hall together. "Where were you headed before you destroyed valuable property?" He said the last part jokingly and hoped she'd understand the humor.
"Um," Rosa started, suddenly feeling ridiculous. (Not that she wasn`t already feeling ridiculous. It was just amplified in that moment.) "Well, um... I wasn`t really going... anywhere, I just like to... walk around when it`s a nice day. Maybe I`ll go find Lana; I think I need to talk to her, anyway."
- So I can tell her I talked to Rick Channing! - Yeah, I`m sure she`ll be ecstatic. - Well... for the most part we`re obsessed with the same guys. She won`t be too weirded out. - Sure she won`t. - ...Hey! Don`t tease me!
"You and Lana, you`re good friends, aren`t you?" Rosa asked, her large blue eyes wide with wonderment as she spoke. "She seems comfortable with you... and, um, you`re usually around when she is. I don`t know, though, sometimes she acts as if you`re wretched. Mostly when I talk about—"
- Woah, hey. Don`t go spilling your guts just yet. - Eeek! He... he won`t think I like him, will he? I don`t want to say it! - Hon`, with all due respect, I`m pretty sure he already knows. - N-No! He can`t know! I`m... I`m not ready yet.
"I mean, um!" Rosa`s legs began to tremble, suddenly abhorrant of her weight. "Uh, jeez, what I mean is... you know, it`s not as if I`m in love with you or anything, that`d be completely daft, totally weird and not... not good, at all. So, um... don`t hang on to that idea, or you`ll—gah!"
The rather loud squeak at the end of Rosa`s little rant had come from her robes—rather, the fact that as she`d been walking her feet had somehow become tangled up in them, sending her crashing to the floor in a flurry of black and yellow. If anyone`d been able to see her expression on the way down they`d probably have been mortified, but watching her from behind the way Rick must`ve been, she probably only looked very, very stupid and very, very clumsy. She was, in a way. It wasn`t stereotypical, the way airheads can`t put one foot in front of the other, but constantly tailing the objects of her affection made it hard to keep her movement regular. Thus, a fall in front of Rick.
- Ooogh... my butt kind of hurts. - Can you stand? This position isn`t very flattering. - I would if I could... just wait, the wind got knocked out of me... - You know who`s watching you, right? - Oh my God... oh my God. Nooooo! - Sorry `bout that, sweetheart.
"Sorry!" Rosa sat up, dusting the debris from her sleeves. "Sorry, I`m so sorry, that was a fluke, you see, I don`t... usually trip all over myself in public. Or anywhere, for that matter. It`s just not... not very flattering, you know, sitting here? Just give me a minute, will you? Thanks, I`m really sorry."
