Ari kneeled on the cold, stone floor of the potions classroom, getting horrible, slimy something all over the knees of her new robe. Great. She scrubed harder at the crusty grime on the side of a coldren, the faster she was the sooner she could get to break. If there was any break left. She tried to look up at the clock and bashed her head on something hard and wooden.
She rubbed the back of her head and continued with the almost gleaming coldren. The crustyt grime was finally disappearing slowly and Ari bit down on her lip, praying she still had some break left. It was enevitable that the bell rang shrill and crisp through the potions room, reverbarating. The last of the grime came off as hundreds of students filled the room, chatting, laughing and flirting. She threw down the cloth she had been using and tried to get to the door before anybody noticed her.

Petra held back from the rest of the Slytherin crowd entering the classroom, rifling through her bag to make sure her favourite quill - but least expensive of that category - was undamaged and easy to get hold of. She leaned against the stone wall next to the doorframe, waiting until the last possible second to go in. The girl was one for entrances, but always made sure she arrived before her professors. Plus, she was in a bad mood; her head needed clearing.
With a last check that the blue & gold quill was fine, she flipped the lid on her satchel and moved to go through the door. A fourth year - Gryffindor, disgustingly - was hurrying out of it, probably terrified as to the amount of sly Slytherins she had just encountered. She banged into Petra.
"Watch where you're going, you," she snapped, pulling back to avoid the girl as much as she could. "Do you not use eyes?"

The slytherins around Ariadne jeered, pulled faces and pushed her as she made for the exit. They couldn't have been more then a year older then her- though she couldn't spot Caleb among them. She heard a high pitched giggle close behind her as she recieved a painful poke in the back. She flushed, her head low as she went as fast as she could without running to the wooden door. The sound of her footsteps reverberated around the room as- she was sure- did her uneven heartbeats
"Watch where you're going, you," she snapped, pulling back to avoid the girl as much as she could. "Do you not use eyes?"
Ari felt herself collide with something- someone- and her cheeks went violently red. She looked up to see a pretty, slim face, framed by sheets of blond hair. Ariadne had heard about this girl in the common room- the comments weren't usually very pleasent. If she wasn't quite mistaken this was the infamous Petra O'Brien.
"I'm sorry" Ari mumbled, her eyes returning to the floor as she tried again to get past the tall, scowling girl.

Petranot too late to back away She smiled, a mock-sincere smile. "Aww, that's okay," Petra murmured, giving off the impression that she was absolutely fine with the insolent brat running into her, practically with her eyes shut.
"Don't do it again," she hissed, leaning down to the girl's level and looking her in the face. "You've seriously caught me at a bad time, little girl." Petra didn't care for her name; she was Gryffindor, and therefore not worth her time. There was no guilt in writing off all people from the idiot, rash house, as some people might have felt. All she believed was that they were all like each other: rotten & dirty players.
"Are you going to move then?" asked Petra, all traces of possible sweetness gone from her face. "Or are you just going to stand there, gawping at me?"
