katie baynes. [tags nick.] Katie wandered into the forest, her wand illuminating her way. She'd just come from divination, the class she hated the most. She didn't get the point of it. When would she ever need to 'see the future', which really just sounded like a load of bullshit to her. Once deep enough in, she looked for the overturned tree she usually occupied. Ever since her first year she'd been sneaking into the forest. Not many people came there and it was a nice place to get away and draw.
When she found it, Katie pulled some parchment and a quill out of her robes and sat down. She stuck her wand into the dirt close to her, lighting up her parchment and a small section of the ground. Bringing her quill to the parchment, she began to trace the plants that she could see.
Katie was finally starting to relax when she heard footsteps coming from behind her. She quickly put out her wand, hoping it wasn't a teacher that she'd heard.

Nick Hewitt, oh my! There are benefits to being a prefect, nobody would really suspect me to break the rules like this..
Nick thought to himself in the dark silence of the Forbidden Forest. His thoughts almost seemed to echo back to him, it was so silent. And though it scared the wits out of first and second years, so beautiful. Everything seemed to be still where he sat, though at the same time he aware of all the life around him. He came here to draw, but couldn`t help but daydream instead. That was something Nick rarely got to do, despite the normal head boy fantasies... which were usually accompanied by the daydreams of his parents pride in him. Though he didn`t like to think of that here, instead he thought of the trees. It was hard to imagine all of the terrible stories he`d heard that happened in this place from where he sat. Several trees away, some sort of light formed. And suddenly Nick was curious, maybe even a little frightened. He walked closer to the light and he looked in awe at the sight. It was perhaps the most inspiring thing he had ever seen. If he could see in the dark he`d take his sketchbook and draw the image right on the page that second. There was a girl crouched up comfortably underneath a large old tree. The light from her wand illuminated the ends of her face and and the curls of her hair with an odd blue light. She was peering over something with a quill in hand, focused. He couldn`t help but approach her, but clearly she saw him as well and unlit her wand. Everything was dark and Nick began to fear she was running away. "Lumos!" he whispered, his wand illuminating in the same way. "Wait!" Nick called, his voice almost cracking,"I`m sorry, did I scare you?"[/blockquote][/blockquote]

katie baynes. The footsteps got louder right after Katie put out her light. Whoever it was that was out there had definitely seen her. She bit her lip, contemplating whether or not to run. If it was another student, it wouldn't matter, but a teacher...
I've never had detention before...but I guess I should keep it that way.
Katie looked down at the ground and cursed under her breath at the sight of well, nothing. Without the light from her wand the forest was pitch black and Katie guessed that she wouldn't have even been able to see her hand in front of her face. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a glow breaking up the darkness. She pulled her belongings close to her chest and stood up. It was now or never. Her right foot was about to move forward when she heard a voice.
"Wait!" it called.
Katie shrieked as her things fell to the ground.
"I`m sorry, did I scare you?"
She shook her head and laughed at herself when she realized he couldn't see her yet.
"No, just caught me off guard," She told him. "But it probably didn't help that I thought you were a teacher."

nick hewitt is surprised "No, just caught me off guard," She told him. "But it probably didn't help that I thought you were a teacher."
"Because every teacher loves strolling around in the darkness," Nick said with sarcasm, though laughing to himself, "You don`t really have to worry that much you know, in this part of the forest."
Everything seemed more awkward in the darkness. As if your waiting to hear something but at the same time you know this isn`t the place to talk. He felt like he should say the obvious, just to get it out of the way, at least.
"If you don`t mind me asking," He began,"What were you doing out here?"
It was of course, the first thing that would come to anyones mind upon seeing her here. It almost looked like she was doing homework, but he couldn`t believe that. When people wanted to do homework under nature, they went to the courtyard, not the forbidden forest. Most people didn`t seem to find it as enchanting as he did.

"Hey, you never know who could be out here," Katie teased, kneeling down to pick up her stuff. "But yeah, I guess you're right."
She stood back up and looked back over at the light. It was almost as endless as the darkness and was shining incredibly bright. Despite this, it was still only able to outline the shape of a boy. Judging by the size of the figure, Katie assumed he was her age or older.
"If you don`t mind me asking," He began,"What were you doing out here?"
"Oh, uh..," Katie laughed. "I was drawing. That sounds kinda weird doesn't it? I mean, it's so dark out here and there's always the grounds or the courtyard. But there's just something about it...it's more natural and, well it's kinda calming out here, no?"
"But I'm rambling," She told him. "I'm Katie."
