Even thought it was freezing cold, Ryan still felt like going outside. Through his bedroom window, he had seen the trees being shaken by the wind furiously, and the students rushing up to the castle. Instead of making him want to stay in his room, the fire cackling and warming it up, he felt a strange desire to go outside. Hastily putting his heavy cloak on, and grabbing his black hat from his bed, he picked up his bags from under the bed and made his way out. He had to catch up with some reading for herbology, and what better way to read about nature but in nature himself? Besides, because of the cold, all the ravenclaws students hogged the common room, making too much noise. It seemed like he was the only one wanting to study. He truly wondered if he was the only ravenclaw at heart. Skimming through the crowd, he tried to spot Chasper and Maddi, but they were nowhere to be found. Guess he'd have to go alone, then.
He descended the stairs quickly, not allowing the stairs to turn fully before he jumped to the floor. The great staircase was a bit chilly, so he bit his lip, dreading the temperature outside. As he walked towards the doors, his lonely steps bounced off the walls, making the castle seem as deserted as ever. With great effort, he pushed the door open, to be greeted by the freezing wind. However, it didn't stop him, and he pulled his hat lower and buried his hands deeper into the cloak as he made his way to the courtyard. Thinking ahead, he had brought his wand with him, ready to conjure anything if he needed it. The courtyard was empty, as expected, and he made his way to one of the benches next to the wall. Ryan grabbed the book carefully, as he didn't want to break it, and set it on his lap. With extreme care, he managed to conjure a flying flame of fire, using incendio and wingardium leviosa. That way, he wouldn't freeze to death. With a satisfied smile on his face, he began to read, feeling the cold air bite his skin but not feeling cold.

Burgundy smashed her lips together as she stood in her room, getting dressed to go outside. It was going to be chilly, so just to be certain she layered up with her white long sleeved shirt under her forest green short sleeved shirt. They had nothing written on them, but one had to have at least a little support for her house, even if the other students wanted to claw their eyes out. She zipped up her dark washed jeans and jammed her feet into her old torn up white tennis shoes. She really needed new ones, these were starting to get holes in them. When she had her robes on, she shoved a red hat on her head and descended the stairs to the common room. The common room was packed, the fire crackled in the fire place. The room seemed stuffy for her, but it may have been the fact that she had clothes on meant for cold, not warm. She kept her eyes in front of her, not wanting to be distracted to staying inside. Outside would be nice and peaceful, the perfect place to write her potions essay. She hated noise when doing her homework. So the common room was out. She walked down the halls and stairwells until she found herself at the doors that stood between her and peace. She readjusted her messenger back backpack on her shoulder and opened the doors, the sun immediately causing her brown eyes to squint and adjust to the light. She walked into the courtyard, which was fairly empty except for one person, whom she couldn't really see who it was from this far. But that didn't matter, he was basically the only person out here. No surprise either, it was cold outside. She walked down the path, closer to the person on the bench, and closer to her destination under a big oak tree, but that happened to be near the person who was sitting there, all alone with his fire. That was a smart idea. And as she got nearer, she could recognize who it was, it was Ryan, just great. She frowned and stopped for a few seconds before sighing before walking quickly past him, hoping he wouldn't notice.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

The wind shook the tree's branches, making them seem like monsters from afar. He smiled to himself, if a younger student saw, they'd probably be scared. The students of his year and older always teased the naive first years horrible stories about wizard-eating monsters, malicious fairies and ghouls that roamed the halls. Each morning for the first week, he had been awakened by a pale-looking first year, holding to their pillow for dear life and telling him stories about the terrible monsters of the night. He had smiled, and tried to calm then down by explaining to them that, according to Hogwarts, A History, the school was perfectly safe. Being Ravenclaws, they believed everything the book said -as they should- and went back to bed with a different attitude.
Being so used to the sound of the wind, it surprised him to hear the faint steps of someone approaching. Who was insane enough to come outside when it was freezing like this? Well---apart from him, of course. He peered up from his book, uncrossing his legs as he observed the student who had been brave enough to go outside.
Soon enough, he recognized her. Burgundy Moore. 5th year Slytherin. He sighed, remembering how long it had been since they had talked. Probably a year ago, when they had broken up. Well, not exactly since they hadn't been officially dating, just here and there. Burgundy was...well, she was a nice girl but not very loyal, if you know what I mean. They were only friends, but it still bothered him. The fact that she didn't want to get along with his friends and was hostile to everyone minus the Slytherins was also a cause, as Ryan believed that everyone could get along. He didn't hate Burgundy, but she just bothered him, with her "I think I'm the best" attitude. Although probably, he wondered, she thought the same of him.
"Feeling brave?"he asked loudly enough for her to hear. She obviously didn't want to talk to him, which made him even more eager. Or cocky. Both. He smirked at her, watching her expression as she realized that he'd spotted her.

"Feeling brave?" Burgundy felt her spine shiver when he asked this question. She had froze up on spot, her back to him. She was contemplating on weather she wanted to answer him or walk away and pretend he didn't say anything. She knew that she would have to see him eventually, even though she didn't want to after the break up, if you could call it that. Did it count that they weren't really official? But that didn't matter much right now. "Aren't I always?" She asked turning on her heel to face him while some of her ego spilling out. Sure, sometimes she gave off a 'I'm better then you.' attitude, and sure, she liked to talk high of herself, but she wasn't vain, not at all. She was just confident. Although, her attitude and annoyed Ryan Smith, the 6th year, up the wall she was sure. Maybe that was one of the reasons they both decided to call it quits? The wind bit at her face, which she didn't bother to cover up. She was pretty sure that her cheeks were now a nice shade of pink, and she was sure her nose matched that pink. How could Ryan sit there and be so warm? She was shivering. Then she saw the fire for the second time, ah yeah, he was a smart cookie. That's why he was in Ravenclaw. "Why are you out here?" She raised an eyebrow, still standing on the path walk just a mere 6 feet away from the edge of the bench that his bum rested on.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

She stopped in her tracks, which made him smirk, and turned round. He loved messing with younger students, although he knew he shouldn't. Since he was the official "shy kid" he never got a chance to fool around and be himself, something he loved to do. Maybe it was a bit mean to students he didn't know, but he was pretty familiar with Burgundy. And her ability to retort to his words, like any Slytherin would. He didn't count her as a friend anymore, although he had a feeling that the conversation would be...amusing. Maybe even better than reading, though that sure set the standards high.
"One thing is bravery and another is craziness. You tend to confuse both." he replied, before rolling his eyes and smirking. Before going out, Burgundy and him were always fighting...annoying little forth year, she had been. Always trying to outsmart a Ravenclaw. And not just a Ravenclaw, but one of the smartest ones, too. How they'd changed from arguing to being together was a mystery to everyone, even these days. Everyone was awestruck in the Ravenclaw tower when they heard the news, and Slytherins would comment behind his back. Nothing a silencing spell wouldn't fix, though he'd never admit that. He didn't hate her or like her now...it was kind of in between. Not like they could be friends now, when the slytherins cheered because of the death of a muggle every morning, they were people he couldn't be with. Even if he tried to be in good terms with everybody, some slytherins still pissed him off.
He raised his eyebrow at her stupid question, hadn't she seen the book? With a sigh, he duplicated the small flame and sent it close to her, to stop her from shivering. If she went inside, he'd have no entertainment. "I thought the book gave it away, but I guess not. Common room was too crowded, so I decided to read here instead,"he told her, then looked more closely and noticed she had her bag with her, "You seem to be here for a similar reason. Though I doubt you're reading for pleasure. Havn't gotten a first year to do your homework yet? And we're in October, you're going to fall behind."he taunted, the smirk still frozen in his face. If he had heard right, some older students were making first years write 3-foot long essays for them, and then gave them nothing but a shove in return. He greatly disaprooved of this, and if he ever saw a Ravenclaw student doing it...oh they'd be in big trouble.

"One thing is bravery and another is craziness. You tend to confuse both." She felt herself frowning even deeper. She wasn't crazy, she had never been in a loony bin, so she wasn't crazy. She crossed her arms over her chest, this little Ravenclaw knew how to get under her skin, even before they were dating...or whatever they were doing at the time. "I do not. I happen to be very sane." She glared at him. It wasn't news that Slytherins loved that the muggles were dying off like flies, but Burgundy didn't really cheer. She knew that as a slytherin, she should be with the rest. Hate the mudbloods, hate the school, hate the world and love the dark arts, but dark really wasn't Burgundy's style, and she was certain the ONLY reason she went to Slytherin was because Slytherin was in her blood. It was just...there. "Maybe you and your friend confuse it." She rolled her eyes in response to his eye rolling. "I thought the book gave it away, but I guess not. Common room was too crowded, so I decided to read here instead," If he wasn't annoying her to death, she would have said thank you for the flame, but she had her pride, and right now he wasn't getting any. "I didn't notice the books." She shrugged. She hadn't honestly looked anywhere but his face, she had no reason too. And when she didn't want to look at his face she looked at the tree behind him. How pretty orange and yellow leaves looked in the sun, she noted. "You seem to be here for a similar reason. Though I doubt you're reading for pleasure. Havn't gotten a first year to do your homework yet? And we're in October, you're going to fall behind." She glared at him. He should know that she hated reading about school stuff. Reading about potions was so boring it made her fall asleep. And she didn't have the patients for the first years. They were new, they didn't know a thing about potions, if she wanted to fail she would just not write the essay. She pointed her nose in the air a little and readjusted her backpack, for it was falling off her shoulder. "You should know that I wouldn't do that. If I wanted to fail I would just skip the essay." She nodded, keeping her nose slightly in the air. She also imagined her taking out her want and pointing that fire straight at his hair and watching him burn to ashes, then the wind that seemed to make the air even more colder blow his ashes away. "Besides, I never fall behind." She always had her homework done before classes, she made sure she never fell behind.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

He nodded, then raised her eyebrow at her comment about his friend? Which friend? He looked around, confused. "Very sane girls do see people everywhere, yeah." He wondered what she was referring to..maybe to the snitch? To Christopher? Ugh, he hated when his -or anyone's, for that matter- life was out in the open for everyone to judge. Come to think of it, he hadn't heard much about Burgundy at all. Some quiet rumors about her and Rick, but had obviously disappeared when they had been heard arguing in the halls. A Gryffindor and a Slytherin? Yeah right, people invented the oddest gossip. Not like he had believed it at all, though Rick was very prone to fooling around. Wait, didn't Burgundy have a boyfriend? It was settled then, that the rumor was totally false. Although he knew her and she wasn't the most loyal person, he couldn't believe she'd cheat on...who was it? He didn't remember. She wouldn't cheat with her boyfriend with the arch-enemy Gryffindor.
He felt pleased when she glared at him, shooting a smirk in return. He was in need of some fun, like he liked it. Sure, he was always careful not to offend anyone and to be in everyone's good list, but Burgundy was different. They didn't hate each other, but they weren't particularly fond of each other either. Nothing too bad, they could just talk together normally, without anything going on, but it wasn't as fun as arguing. He was sure she enjoyed it, too. "Probably..."he said, and was tempted to make some remark on her grades. They weren't bad at all, but not as good as his. However, he bit his lip, as he was well aware of how hard she tried. In fact, she had gone down to catch up on some..he checked, potions homework.
He was sure she wasn't going to thank him for the flame, in fact, he was sure she was coming up with some plan to burn him alive. He chuckled, and with a swift movement of his wand, dragged the flame he had conjured up for her back, placing it on the tree behind him. No, he wasn't planning on setting the school on fire, the flames didn't actually burn. Without muttering a sound, he created a small circle of small flames that danced around her, closing up on her and then moving away. It was rather mesmerizing, and he watched how she stood still, thinking the flames actually burned "You are very welcome."he nodded slightly, pulling the hat lower, nearly covering his eyes.

"Very sane girls do see people everywhere, yeah." She raised an eyebrow. Well yeah she saw people everywhere, it was school duh. But then she started to think that maybe that wasn't the point. Was he calling her schizophrenic? She definitely did not see little hallucinations running around every way. Or maybe he meant something else that she couldn't quite grasp, so she merely shrugged in return. Although, right now Ryan seemed to be in almost every article the Snitch put out, so maybe Ryan thought she was talking about that Molly girl that really got under Burgundy's skin? Was it possible to be that nice and forgiving? "Maybe, maybe not." she continued to stand while raising an eyebrow. She seemed to be doing that a lot right now. "So, how's your friend Molly?" She asked, a smirk finding it's way on her face. She guessed that this was a touchy subject for him, since it had been rumoured that he liked her, and more then a friend should. She wondered if she had struck a nerve, maybe get him fired up. Ryan Smith of Ravenclaw hardly ever got fired up, and Burgundy wondered if she was capable of exposing that rare side of him. She finally decided to set her overstuffed bag onto he ground, her shoulder starting to ache under it's weight. She rolled her shoulder around, waiting for a response from Ryan. "Probably..." She looked at him cautiously, he wouldn't just give up like that, he enjoyed being a smart ass to her, and really to her. But it's not like she didn't try, she wasn't brain smart like Ryan, she had to actually work for her marks, but she wasn't stupid either. And even though she cut into her free time by staying after in class, it didn't bother her. She would rather live a successful life then a horrible one, and if that meant staying after and eating away her free time, then so be it. "Hm, we actually agree on something." Now, that was a rare moment. Usually he said black and she said white. "You are very welcome." She scoffed, way to bruise her pride. She crossed her arms over her chest and shifted her weight on her right leg. It was really funny, sometimes he could read her mind like that, he knew she wasn't going to say thank you, but then again, this situation kinda gave it away, but usually when they were dating, he would know exactly what she was thinking, and it was this fact that drove her insane. She didn't like people being able to tell what she was feeling, her thoughts, or close to her thoughts and things like that. She wasn't fond of being read like a book, and how Ryan did like reading books. "Way to bruise my pride. She wasn't going to lie and say he didn't even mess with her, even though she really wished she would have.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

. ryan His eyes narrowed, and if they could shoot daggers he was sure they would. How dared she bring up the topic of Molly? She couldn't even talk about her. Molly was too sweet for the venomous Burgundy, she shouldn't be allowed to even mention her. His body felt cold all of a sudden, and remembered one night, not long ago...He had been pacing around the halls, as it was his duty to do, and he had seen the door to the Transfigurations classroom open, and the light on. He thought it had been a teacher, so he went in to start a light talk. What was his surprise when it hadn't been a teacher, but Burgundy and a very familiar blond gryffindor...He retreated quickly, and tried to forget about it so that it wouldn't slip in front of Molly, as her and Rick were very close. "Oh she's amazing, how about Rick? i'm sure you know him...deeply. Does he...whats his name...your boyfriend know?"he asked, even though he knew her boyfriend was not aware, "And i thought you'd stop cheating after we were over... You never learn, do you?"he crossed his arms over his chest, feeling great and awful at the same time. Great because he had managed to shut her up about Molly, though horrible because he hated being mean. But sometimes, with Burgundy, it was necessary. Plus, it annoyed him that she cheated on her boyfriend, after he'd felt horrible when he had found out she'd done the same to him. Maddi had been right, he'd have to explode sometime, but he did it differently. Agree? Well, he did agree on that first years didn't know that many stuff about potions to actually write a long essay about it. But very close to an agreement, yeah."A miracle has just happened." he said, agreeing with her yet again. During their brief...relationship, if you shall, they were constantly arguing. And about stupid things, too. Like the exact time when lunch started, or the number of doors in a hallway. But it was never anything serious, and he stopped bothering her when he felt like she was getting worked up. By some reason, he could figure out what was going through Burgundy's mind, probably because it was so alike to his own. They both had very strong personalities and they were stubborn, which caused arguments between them all the time. But they weren’t that bad, they amused him sometimes. He threw his head back, and laughed. He would say something about her questionable pride but figured it would be too harsh, so he kept quiet. Instead, with another flick of his wand, the flames broke apart from their circle, to form an ever larger circle around Burgundy and him. His main flame was still floating in front of him, but he sent it to the middle of the circle, where it joined her’s. This way, they’d both be warm enough and could do whatever they wanted without feeling cold. ”Clever trick, `aint it?” he asked her with a grin, waiting for her approval, since she wasn’t going to thank him. At least he was stopping her from freezing to death. He sighed and rolled his eyes, continuing with his reading where he had left it. Crossing his legs, he peered up from the book to see that she was still standing there, shifting from foot to foot. “Jesus woman, sit.”he told her, bringing a bench from further away and placing it behind her, causing her to stumble and finally, fall and sit down. He watched the scene with an amused expression, then looked down to his book. Seemed like he wasn’t getting any reading done.
